(3 Stars)

Written in 1985, Ender’s Game reveals a raw and haunting truth that is still applicable today. Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, a child prodigy, is deemed capable of saving the human race from the treacherous buggers. These malicious alien life forms wish to destroy planet Earth. From the young age of six, Ender is put through a military school designed to mold him into the savior commander that the world desperately needs. Like the ancient military strategist Sun Tzu, Ender understands the system and becomes his enemy in order to demolish them. When Ender wins the game, and in order to ensure victory, he obliterates his opponent so that they are incapable of attacking him ever again. However, this skillful approach of becoming his enemy causes him to love them. In the end, this Achilles' heel leads to his own internal destruction.
